President's Message

Welcome to November and the start of the holiday season. I cherish each holiday season with my family, and Thanksgiving is one of my favorites. My wife and I regularly talk about the good fortune in our lives, but in November, we truly give thanks. One of the things that I am most thankful for is having provided safety for my family for years to come. Safety? What does that have to do with Thanksgiving, you ask?

Life is very uncertain. From one day to the next we don't know how our lives could change or even come to an end. That got me thinking a few years ago about my own family's position if something happened to me. My research found that only 40% of American families have any kind of will at all, and of those, 70% are outdated. WOW! The numbers are much lower for people who have a trust, a living will, or even long-term care insurance.

Please take this holiday season to consider creating safety for your loved ones and get these things in order – properly. I did a few years ago and look back on it as the smartest move I've every made. My wife is grateful, my daughters are protected and I'm thankful that our financial affairs are in order.
