When Mom and Dad Say No

Have you ever been in a store and wanted something, but your parents wouldn’t buy it for you? You may not know it, but your parents are sticking to a budget. If they think you don’t need the item or it costs too much, they can say no.

If you want the item enough, you may be able to buy it using your own money. Make sure your parents say it’s OK first, though! Some products might be dangerous, or only meant for teenagers or adults.

Remember to put your allowance and birthday money in your savings account. That way, you’ll have the funds to buy items that don’t fit Mom or Dad’s budget.
