Business Banking |
Meet Your Business Banker, Dave Sabo
How many years have you been in banking? More than 28 years. What do you do at Croghan Colonial Bank? I'm a vice president and a commercial lender working out of the Bellevue Banking Center. What's your area of lending expertise? I do all types of business lending for big companies, small companies, mom-and-pop shops and everything in between. It's important to my clients that I'm able to understand the specific challenges facing all business sizes and tailor their loan programs to their specific needs. What client achievements do you admire? Two come to mind – both from Monroeville. Gary Jones, Jones Manufacturing Co. and Terry Albright, Albright Machine. Both started their businesses in a garage; Gary in 1990 and Terry in 1995. Gary, a former truck driver, came up with what he calls a J-Lock system for semi trucks. It's a locking device to help keep the stabilizing bars in place when in transport. Today, his system is used by several major truck manufacturers at the factory, including Volvo, Freightliner and Peterbilt. Terry started to build robotic units in his garage, mostly for manufacturing facilities, after a career as a truck driver. Today, he and his son Travis continue to build these intricate units for Berry Plastic Corporation out of Indiana and most of their 21 plants around the country. As we speak, he is adding 3,000- square-feet to his shop and office area because of their business growth. What would you do if you weren't a banker? I'd be in some kind of public relations position. I love to work with people. What quality do you think is most important in running a successful business? The people are the most important. They are the heart and soul of any business, big or small. They make the wheel turn and determine the success or failure of a company. So, tell us a little about yourself. I'm a 1978 BGSU graduate and have been married to my wife, Ginny, for 28 years. We have a daughter, Brittany, who's a teacher in the Bellevue school system; and a son, Trevor, who's a sophomore at Ohio State University. Besides my civic engagements, I spend my free time golfing, nautilus training and officiating high school track and field. Dave is interested in all phases of business development. Call him today at 419-483-6108 to talk about your business needs. |
