American Savings Bank employees give back to our community

Employees donated baskets filled with board games, art supplies and toys to the patients at Shriners Hospital for Children.

Over the past four years, our Seeds of Service program has contributed over 7,700 total volunteer hours on Oahu, Hawaii Island, Maui, Molokai and Kauai. In 2008, more than 400 American Savings Bank employees volunteered with the following organizations and projects:

FDIC's Transaction Account
Guarantee Program

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) recently announced its temporary Transaction Account Guarantee (TAG) Program. Under this program, certain transaction accounts are fully guaranteed, regardless of the amount in the account, through December
31, 2009.

American Savings Bank has chosen to participate in the FDIC's TAG Program. The guarantee applies to all (consumer and business) noninterest-bearing checking accounts, Preferred and Senior Checking, BizPLUS Checking, Analyzed Interest Checking accounts, and IOLTAs. Balances in covered accounts will be guaranteed through December 31, 2009. This coverage is in addition to and separate from the FDIC's standard maximum deposit insurance limit, which is currently $250,000. ASB Interest Checking accounts are not eligible for this coverage, and the coverage does not apply to funds transferred out of checking accounts using sweep services.
