$10,000 to the Girl Scouts of Hawaii for their "Commit to a Girl" Program, which assists economically disadvantaged girls with developing leadership skills.
$2,000 to the Hawaii Council of Teachers of Mathematics for the 2008 Statewide Math Bowl.

$10,000 to the Institute for Human Services.
$5,000 to Kids At-Risk Mentoring Program Hawaii for their "Pride and Victory" program, which mentors and teaches life skills to at-risk youth in Leeward Oahu.
$10,000 to 'Ohana Komputer to help create a computer learning center in the new Weinberg Foundation Kukui Center in Chinatown.

Teach Children to Save Day

Teaching our keiki about finances now can help them develop a lifetime of good financial habits. As part of the American Bankers Association's nationwide "Teach Children to Save Day" on April 21, American Savings Bank Executive Vice President Gabe Lee gave a presentation to 3^rd and 5^th grade students at his alma mater, Pearl Harbor Elementary, on the importance of saving.

American Savings Bank's May First Saturday Drive collected over 3,000 items statewide for the Friends of the Library of Hawaii. American Savings Bank's Accounting Department contributed over 600 books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes.
